FC 27 First Winger Evolution Guide: Requirements, Upgrades, and LW Candidates

FC 27 First Winger Evolution Guide: Requirements, Upgrades, and LW Candidates

The first dedicated winger Evolution in EA Sports FC 27 gives Ultimate Team players a free way to improve an eligible LW card. Before using FC 27 Coins to buy a player for the Evolution, the important part is not simply finding an LW with a low Overall rating. The card must pass several restrictions, and its starting attributes should also match the type of winger you want to build.

Winger Glow Up Requirements

Winger Glow Up is unlocked through the Premium Season Pass at Level 26. The Evolution is free once unlocked, but the Player Item submitted to it must satisfy the listed restrictions. The current requirements include a maximum Overall of 81, maximum Pace of 85, LW as the required position, no LB or ST among the excluded-position conditions, no more than seven PlayStyles, and no PlayStyle+. The card can also have a maximum of three positions.

The Overall and Pace limits are easy to check, but the PlayStyle and position restrictions are just as important. A card that falls below 81 OVR can still fail the Evolution if it has a PlayStyle+, too many PlayStyles, too many positions, or an excluded position.

That is why the safest approach is to check the exact Player Item rather than relying only on a general player database or the player’s name.

Winger Glow Up Upgrade Path

The Evolution contains four upgrade levels. There are currently no listed Games, Wins, or Clean Sheets challenges, so the card does not require a separate match-based objective sequence to unlock these upgrades.

Level 1: Dribbling and Attacking Movement

The first stage raises the card to 83 OVR and focuses heavily on technical attributes.

UpgradeIncrease
Overall+10
Positioning+10
Volleys+10
FK Accuracy+10
Agility+15
Dribbling+15

The combination of Agility and Dribbling is useful for an LW who receives the ball near the touchline and needs to turn into space. It also means that a card with already respectable technical attributes can make better use of this part of the Evolution.

Level 2: Finishing and Ball Control

The second stage adds improvements in front of goal and in short passing.

  • Finishing +10
  • Penalties +10
  • Short Pass +10
  • Balance +15
  • Composure +15

This part of the upgrade is useful when deciding between two similar LW cards. A player with a better starting Shooting or Passing profile may have a different role after the Evolution than a pure pace-oriented winger.

Level 3: Acceleration and Distribution

The third level focuses on movement and passing range.

  • Acceleration +15
  • Shot Power +10
  • Vision +10
  • Long Pass +10
  • Reactions +15
  • Stamina +10

Acceleration receives a large increase, while Vision and Long Pass give the card more options when moving the ball away from the wing.

Level 4: Pace, Crossing and Ball Control

The final level adds another major set of attacking upgrades.

  • Skill Moves +1, reaching 3
  • Sprint Speed +15
  • Long Shots +10
  • Crossing +10
  • Curve +10
  • Ball Control +15

Sprint Speed reaches 85 through the listed upgrade path, while Ball Control also reaches 85. The final stage therefore adds more than just raw Pace and gives the finished card a broader attacking profile.

How to Screen LW Candidates

The EA FC 27 ratings database currently lists a large number of LW cards. Several fall within the basic 81 OVR and 85 Pace limits, but these ratings alone do not confirm that every card is eligible for Winger Glow Up.

A useful first screening group includes the following cards:

PlayerOVRPACSHOPASDRI
Harvey Barnes8082817581
Andreas Schjelderup8081757582
Guedes8081827778
Barrenetxea7984757481
Lukáš Haraslín7980777382
Yeremy Pino7975748081
Cora Zicai7877767479
Mika Godts7883727184

These players should be treated as cards to check, not as a confirmed list of eligible Evolution items. For example, EA’s ratings page confirms the basic LW, OVR and Pace information, but the Evolution itself has additional restrictions that are not represented by those five ratings.

Players such as Gabriel Martinelli, Naomie Feller, Armand Laurienté and Rubén Vargas are less useful for the initial screen because their listed Pace is already above the Evolution’s 85 Pace maximum. Denis Bouanga sits directly at 85 Pace, so his card would still need the remaining restrictions checked rather than being removed purely because of Pace.

Which Type of LW Should You Look For?

There is no single candidate that automatically makes the most sense for every squad. The better approach is to compare the starting profile with the attributes supplied by the Evolution.

For a Direct Winger

Look for a card with good starting Pace while remaining at or below the 85 Pace restriction. The Evolution itself adds +15 Acceleration and +15 Sprint Speed, so Pace-focused cards can become more effective at attacking open space.

For a Dribbling Role

Cards with strong starting Dribbling are worth checking because Winger Glow Up adds another +15 Dribbling and +15 Ball Control. Agility and Balance also receive large boosts, making the technical side of the card an important part of the final profile.

For a Scoring Role

A card with reasonable starting Shooting can make use of the Evolution’s Finishing, Positioning, Shot Power and Long Shot improvements. Harvey Barnes and Guedes, for example, have stronger starting Shooting numbers than several other LW cards in the same Overall range, although their complete Evolution eligibility still needs to be checked on the individual item.

For a Creative Role

Passing should also be considered. The Evolution provides Short Pass, Vision, Long Pass and Crossing upgrades. Yeremy Pino is an example of a lower-Overall LW with a relatively strong starting Passing rating, so his card profile may appeal to players who want the winger to participate more heavily in buildup.

Check the Card Before Spending Coins

The safest order is to identify the role first and then check the card against every requirement.

Position: Confirm that the specific item qualifies as LW.

Overall: Make sure the starting Overall is 81 or lower.

Pace: Check that the card has no more than 85 Pace.

Positions: Confirm that the card does not exceed the three-position limit and does not contain an excluded position.

PlayStyles: Check that the card has seven or fewer PlayStyles and no PlayStyle+.

Squad fit: Compare the player’s league, nation, club and position with your existing squad.

Final attributes: Preview the finished Evolution before committing the card.

This order avoids wasting Coins on a player who looks suitable from the ratings screen but fails one of the less obvious Evolution conditions.

Chemistry Still Matters

An Evolution card should not be judged only by its final Overall. If the upgraded LW cannot fit your current squad, the theoretical attribute improvements may not solve the problem you actually have.

Check the links the player provides before submitting the card. This is particularly useful when comparing two similar LW options. One may have better individual attributes, while another may fit the rest of the team without forcing several other changes.

EA also states that once a Player Item is submitted into a standard Evolution slot, it becomes untradeable. That makes the preview stage important because the decision affects the long-term use of the card.

Common Mistakes With the First Winger Evolution

Buying an LW only because it is below 81 OVR

The Overall limit is only one requirement. PlayStyles, PlayStyle+, Pace and position restrictions can still prevent the card from qualifying.

Choosing the fastest card automatically

A high-Pace LW is not necessarily the most useful choice. The Evolution already provides significant Acceleration and Sprint Speed increases, so starting Dribbling, Shooting or Passing can matter more for some squads.

Ignoring the individual Player Item

Different versions of a player can have different attributes, PlayStyles or positions. Check the actual item you intend to submit.

Spending Coins before checking eligibility

Confirm the Evolution requirements first. This is especially important when buying a card specifically for an Evolution.

Ignoring the final role

Do not judge the card only by its final OVR. Look at how the upgraded Pace, Dribbling, Ball Control, Shooting and Passing fit the way you attack.

Quick Pre-Submission Check

Before confirming Winger Glow Up, run through this short list:

  • LW requirement satisfied
  • OVR 81 or lower
  • Pace 85 or lower
  • No more than three positions
  • No excluded LB or ST position
  • Seven or fewer PlayStyles
  • No PlayStyle+
  • Chemistry works with the squad
  • Starting attributes fit the intended role
  • Final Evolution preview has been checked
  • The card is worth keeping as an untradeable Evolution item

If you need to purchase an eligible player, check the exact Ultimate Team item before deciding how many FC 27 Coins to spend. Players looking for FC 27 Coins for sale should first identify the card they intend to use, since buying Coins does not solve an Evolution eligibility problem if the selected Player Item fails one of the requirements.

Winger Glow Up is most useful when the starting card already fits the role you want and the Evolution fills the gaps in its attributes. Instead of choosing an LW only because of Overall or Pace, compare the starting card with the full upgrade path and make sure the finished player has a clear place in your squad.
